Registered Psychologist
I have been dedicated to working with individuals within criminal justice and health settings for over 13 years. During this time, I have gained extensive experience in conducting various psychological assessments and therapies. Through my work with men in prison, I have developed a keen interest and expertise in supporting individuals with neurodivergent conditions. I have seen first hand how people have struggled to understand who they are, and how misdiagnosis (or no diagnosis at all) has affected their whole lives, their self-esteem, and the ways other people view them.
The most fulfilling part of my role has been helping men in prison find their true selves by assessing for conditions like Autism, ADHD, and Learning Disability. I have seen how providing someone with the answers that they have always been looking for has changed their outlook, the levels of support that they receive, and their self-compassion.
My commitment to supporting individuals with neurodivergent conditions extends beyond direct care. I have made it my mission to educate a wide array of professionals on effective support strategies within our communities. This passion for spreading awareness has led me to collaborate with the Welsh Assembly Government, where I have worked to enhance and improve access to Neurodiversity Services in Wales.
On a personal level, I have gained intimate insight into the challenges faced daily by individuals with ADHD through my experience in supporting close family members with ADHD. This personal journey has reinforced my belief in the importance of helping individuals with ADHD recognise their unique strengths. By building on these strengths and making necessary adjustments to navigate this world, my family has found our own daily rhythm, and I am passionate about helping others do the same.
